Jeremy’s Top 25

1- Florida State (3)
2- Alabama (1)
3- Oregon (2)
4- Stanford (4)
5- Ohio State (5)

I’ve got a significant change in my top 5 this week.  After their second blowout of a top ten team this season, I’ve moved Florida State up to No. 1 in my rankings.  Do I think that will stick?  Probably not but for now, they have a more impressive resume than either Alabama or Oregon who check in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.  Stanford remains at No. 4 but they’ve got an opportunity to move up if they can knock off the Ducks this Thursday.  Ohio State checks in at No. 5 this week and despite being undefeated, I think they’re a distant five compared to the teams ahead of them.

6- Auburn (6)
7- Baylor (7)
8- Clemson (9)
9- Missouri (10)
10- Oklahoma (14)

Auburn and Baylor stand pat at No’s 6 and 7 this week.  Baylor has a big matchup with this week’s No. 10, Oklahoma.  Clemson and Missouri both move up a spot to No’s 8 and 9, respectively.

11- South Carolina (13)
12- LSU (11)
13- Texas A&M (12)
14- Oklahoma State (17)
15- UCLA (15)

A little shuffling around here in my 11-15.  South Carolina has rebounded from their loss to Tennessee and still has a good shot at winning the SEC East.  LSU is No. 12 this week and get a shot to turn the college football season upside down as they travel to Alabama this weekend.  A&M is No. 12 this week and will have some opportunities in the next few weeks to move up the rankings.  Oklahoma State moves up from No. 17 last week to No. 14 this week.  The Cowboys were shaky early in the season but seem to be coming into focus down the stretch.

16- Miami (8)
17- Michigan State (25)
18- UCF (18)
19- Fresno State (19)
20- Arizona State (20)

No’s 18-20 stand pat this week but No. 16 and No. 17 are the big moves this week.  A week ago Miami was No. 7 in the nation and sitting at 7-0.  This week, they’re No. 11 in the BCS and 14 in the AP.  I’ve got them at No. 16 after getting drilled by Florida State 41-14 and losing their biggest weapon on offense in Duke Johnson.  With Virginia Tech up next for the ‘Canes, this season could go south in a hurry.  Michigan State is the other big mover this week as they jump from No. 25 in my poll last week to No. 17 this week.  The Spartans have quietly put together a really solid season and could sneak their way into a BCS Bowl.

21- Louisville (21)
22- NIU (23)
23- Wisconsin (NR)
24- Notre Dame (24)
25- Texas Tech (16)

Louisville, NIU and Notre Dame all stay pretty close to where they were a week ago.  Louisville and NIU are winning, but I’m just not going to move them up until they get a quality win and that might not happen this year.  Wisconsin checks back into my top 25 for the first time since week 5.  The Badgers are 6-2 and playing as well as anyone in the B1G… for whatever that’s worth.  Texas Tech has dropped two in a row and it’s a product of their opponents.  Tech is playing better teams and we’re seeing a more accurate picture of where the Red Raiders are at.  This is a good football team but they still have a long way to go.

Out-
Michigan (6-2)
Michigan has been living on the edge for a few weeks now.  They dropped out of the polls after a tough loss on the road at Penn State but had worked their way back in after a win over Indiana.  Last week they were exposed by Michigan State and with the remaining schedule for the Wolverines wins could be tough to come by.

On the Radar-
Texas (6-2), BYU (6-2), Arizona (6-2), Minnesota (7-2)
