Week 7 Review

No. 1 Alabama 48 @ Kentucky 7
Alabama easily took care of Kentucky in Lexington putting up 48 points in the final three quarters. TJ Yeldon rushed for 124 yards and two scores and AJ McCaron added 359 yards through the air and another score. Any questions about who the No. 1 team is? Not from these bloggers.
Nick’s Pick: Alabama, 34-10
Jeremy’s Pick: Alabama, 38-10

No. 2 Oregon 45 @ No. 16 Washington 24
The Ducks and the Huskies played a close game for the first thee quarters with Washington pulling within seven going into the fourth quarter, but 14-unanswered points by the Ducks sealed their 10th straight victory over the Huskies. Marcus Mariota had 366 yards through the air and three scores, while Husky running back Bishop Sankey carried the ball 28 times for 167 yards and two TDs.
Jeremy’s Pick: Washington, 34-31
Nick’s Pick: Washington, 48-45

No. 3 Clemson 24 vs. Boston College 14
Clemson looked like it was ready to rollover against Boston College and thus ruin a potential major showdown this week in Death Valley after trailing 14-10 going into the fourth, but two touchdowns in the fourth quarter gave the Tigers a 24-14 victory. The Tigers better get their heads on strait before a major date with FSU this weekend.
Nick’s Pick: Clemson, 42-24
Jeremy’s Pick: Clemson, 45-17

No. 4 Ohio State, Idle

No. 5 Stanford 21 @ Utah 27
Wow. I am calling this one the biggest upset of the season so far. Trailing late in the game Stanford drove all the way down to the Utah seven yardline, before passing twice on third and fourth down. What? You are Stanford do what you do and cram the ball. But that didn’t happen and Utah held on to take down a lot of people’s sleeper pick (including me) to get to the national title game.
Nick’s Pick: Stanford, 38-24
Jeremy’s Pick: Stanford 31-27

No. 6 Florida State, Idle

No. 7 Georgia 26 vs. No. 25 Missouri 41
Missouri showed up and took the Dawgs down in Athens. The Tigers look like they are ready to take the next step in the SEC East. Missouri just jumped out to a 28-10 halftime lead and never looked back. The only problem for the Tigers is the loss of quarterback James Franklin for 3-5 weeks which really hurts their chances to win the East.
Nick’s Pick: Georgia, 45-42
Jeremy’s Pick: Georgia, 42-35

No. 8 Louisville 24 vs. Rutgers 10
The Cardinals survived a tough game from Bridgewater and relied on two late defensive plays to win the game.

No. 9 Texas A&M 41 @ Ole Miss 38
Ole Miss gave the Aggies and Johnny Football all they could handle in Oxford.  Unfortunately for the Rebels, Johnny Football was Johnny Football and led his team on a last minute drive to get out with a win.
Nick’s Pick: Texas A&M, 49-35
Jeremy’s Pick: Texas A&M, 45-38

No. 10 LSU 17 vs. No. 17 Florida 6
An old-fashioned SEC slugfest, LSU had just enough to get by Florida.  The Gators defense brought LSU offense to a screeching halt but Florida’s offense cost them one here.
Jeremy’s Pick: LSU, 27-17
Nick’s Pick: LSU, 24-21

No. 11 UCLA 37 vs. Cal 10
UCLA continues to roll as they ripped Cal apart outscoring the Bears 24-10 in the first half.
Jeremy’s Pick: UCLA, 52-24
Nick’s Pick: UCLA, 49-14

No. 12 Oklahoma 20 vs. Texas 36
Note to self: don’t bet against Mack Brown.  Few people produce with their backs against the wall like Brown and his Texas Longhorns.
Nick’s Pick: Oklahoma, 38-24
Jeremy’s Pick: Oklahoma, 51-20

No. 13 Miami, Idle

No. 14 South Carolina 52 @ Arkansas 7
This looked like a potential pot-hole for the Gamecocks but they handled their business on the road and completely shut down Arkansas at home.
Nick’s Pick: South Carolina, 31-21
Jeremy’s Pick: South Carolina, 38-27

No. 15 Baylor 35 @ Kansas State 25
Kansas State gets the loss but it might be a win for the rest of the Big 12 as the Wildcats slowed Baylor’s high-powered offense, limiting the Bears to almost half of their offensive output.
Jeremy’s Pick: Baylor 61-33
Nick’s Pick: Baylor, 70-35

No. 18 Michigan 40 @ Penn State 43 (4OT)
Michigan’s struggles continue as they took to the road at Happy Valley.  Penn State battled for four quarters and then some, knocking off the Wolverines in four overtimes.
Nick’s Pick: Michigan, 28-27
Jeremy’s Pick: Michigan, 36-24

No. 19 Northwestern 6 @ Wisconsin 35
Northwestern couldn’t shake off the loss from last week and went into a very difficult environment at Camp Randell against a Wisconsin team that is rolling.
Jeremy’s Pick: Wisconsin, 31-30
Nick’s Pick: Northwestern, 37-34

No. 20 Texas Tech 42 vs. Iowa State 35
Iowa State seems to be a thorn in the Big 12’s side.  The Cyclones don’t get a lot of wins but they make every opponent work for theirs.
Nick’s Pick: Texas Tech, 48-17
Jeremy’s Pick: Texas Tech, 42-21

No. 23 Northern Illinois 27 vs. Akron 20
If Northern Illinois has BCS hopes again this season, they’ll need to look more impressive against teams like Akron.
Jeremy’s Pick: Northern Illinois, 35-17
Nick’s Pick: Northern Illinois, 42-14

No. 24 Virginia Tech 19 vs. Pittsburgh 9
It wasn’t pretty but the Hokies got their sixth straight win and broke a four game skid against Pitt.
Nick’s Pick: Virginia Tech, 27-21
Jeremy’s Pick: Virginia Tech, 24-17

Other games to watch

New Mexico 30 vs. Wyoming 38
The Pokes were outscored 28-17 in the second half but held on to get the win over New Mexico.  Wyoming quarterback, Brett Smith continues to pile up the stats going for 387 total yards and 3 TD’s.
Nick’s Pick: Wyoming, 42-38
Jeremy’s Pick: Wyoming, 45-24

Indiana 28 @ Michigan State 42
Michigan State has quietly put together a great start and might be one of the best teams in the B1G.
Jeremy’s Pick: Michigan State, 31-20
Nick’s Pick: Michigan State, 28-17

Georgia Tech 20 @ BYU 38
Georgia Tech continues their slide, getting ripped by a very solid BYU team in Provo.  The Cougars jumped out to a 24-13 half-time lead and the Yellow Jackets couldn’t throw themselves back in it.
Nick’s Pick: BYU, 35-31
Jeremy’s Pick: Georgia Tech, 31-28

Bowling Green 20 @ Mississippi State 21
Mississippi State survived a scare from a very competitive Bowling Green.
Jeremy’s Pick: Mississippi State, 33-31
Nick’s Pick: Bowling Green, 38-37

Boise State 34 @ Utah State 23
Utah State scored 14 points in the fourth quarter but was never really in contention against a much better Boise State team.
Nick’s Pick: Boise State, 41-24
Jeremy’s Pick: Boise State, 38-28

Oregon State 52 @ Washington State 24
The final score might not show it but this game was tied at 24 in the fourth quarter.  Despite the effort from Wazzou, Sean Mannion and the Beavers offense lit up the fourth with 28 points.
Jeremy’s Pick: Oregon State, 41-24
Nick’s Pick: Oregon State, 48-45

The Score:
Jeremy- 16/23
Nick- 15/23
